News-Antique.com - Nov 02,2016 - · Both candidates' signed photos were selling for £200 in July
· The figures suggest collectors are predicting a Clinton victory on November 8
· Barack Obama's signed photos are worth less than both candidates at £350 – but still more than Vladimir Putin's (£150)
Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump – in the value of their autographs at least. That's according to the 2016 edition of JustCollecting's PFC40 Autograph Index, released today.
Produced in conjunction with Paul Fraser Collectibles, the index tracks the values of the most regularly traded signatures.
In July, both candidates' signed photos were selling for £200. Clinton has since pulled out a significant lead. The former Secretary of State's signed photos now sell for £700, compared with £450 for the property tycoon's.
COLLECTORS PREDICTING A CLINTON WIN
JustCollecting's head writer, Dan Wade, says: "Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump's signed photos have soared in value since July's conventions as fascination surrounding this most extraordinary of elections grows and grows.
"History suggests the losing candidate's signature will fall dramatically in price. Clinton's higher value indicates collectors are predicting a Democrat victory, although Trump's willingness to sign anything and everything keeps supply high and lowers his price-point somewhat."
Both candidates' autographs are trading higher than present Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama's (£350) and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin's (£150).
The most valuable living signature belongs to Fidel Castro (£3,950). The most expensive individual signature in the index is that of James Dean (£18,000).
