News-Antique.com - Sep 01,2016 - ANTIQUES IN SCHOHARIE 41ST ANNUAL FALL SHOW TO BE HELD AT THE SCHOHARIE VALLEY RAILROAD COMPLEX ON DEPOT LANE IN THE VILLAGE OF SCHOHARIE ON SEPTEMBER 17 AND 18, SATURDAY FROM 10-5 AND SUNDAY FROM 11-4
The weekend of September 17th & 18th is a great time to plan a trip to the Schoharie County. As well as this outstanding Antique Show, there is also the Harvest Festival in Sharon Springs. Both Schoharie and Sharon Springs are steeped in history and offer so much to any visitor. Two wonderful venues on the same weekend; it doesnít get any better than that!
Held on the grounds of the Schoharie Valley Railroad Museum, the backdrop is a perfect setting for this antique show. The Museum is open to show goers and the grounds, as well as all of the buildings, are filled with antique dealers. There will be over 100 dealers inside, outside and under the tents! The entire complex is transformed into a treasure trove laden with antiques and collectibles of all ages. Whatever it is you are searching for will be sure to be there! And then the food... Our famous lunch offerings will be served once again--homemade pies, cakes, brownies and cookies plus Ralph's chili, soup, and sandwiches made to order. Enjoy our outdoor cafe under the big tent.
This year will again feature special quilt and hooked rug exhibits on the second floor of the Depot Lane Creamery Building. The "Always on Wednesday Rug Hookers" will show the art of hooking and will have their works exhibited for all to see. In addition, Vromanís Quilts, the Schoharie Valley Piecemakers' Guild and Peaceable Day Quilters Guild will show quilting techniques as well as some of their handmade quilts. Following in the tradition of Colonial women, the Schoharie County Quilt Barn Trail (SCQBT) is encouraging residents of the county to air their quilts, displaying them outside on clotheslines, porches, wherever they wish. There will be many quilts aired all day Saturday, September 17 at the Fall Antiques Show (rain date is Sunday, September 18). For more information of the Quilt Trail, visit their website at www.quiltbarntrail.com and like them on Facebook (search SCQBT) to get updates as the date approaches.
This show is completely run by Schoharie Colonial Heritage Volunteers and is one of our largest fund raisers to support our ongoing activities, especially the 1743 Palatine House--the oldest building in Schoharie County--and the Schoharie Valley Railroad Museum. For more information about Colonial Heritage Association, go to SchoharieHeritage.org. Membership is open to all! Call 518-295-7505 (office) or Ruth Anne Wilkinson, Show Manager (518-231-7241)
