News-Antique.com - May 10,2016 - Auction house Peachtree & Bennett announces the sale of 77 lots of photographs and ephemera by sought-after photographer Michel Comte in their upcoming auction on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 2pm at the Atlanta Expo Center (3640 Jonesboro Road SE, Atlanta, GA 30354).
Michel Comte launched his photography career with an advertising campaign for the Chloé fashion house, headed by designer Karl Lagerfeld. Comte went on to work with virtually every major fashion magazine of note. In addition to his fashion photography, Comte created many iconic celebrity portraits for Vanity Fair and Vogue, including shoots with figures such as Julian Schnabel, Jeremy Irons, Miles Davis, Helena Christenson, Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Ewan McGregor, and Mike Tyson.
Comte was named Photographer of the Year by PHOTO Magazine in 2000, and his work has been shown in museums and galleries around the world, including retrospective exhibitions at Vienna’s Kunst Haus Museum, Zurich’s Museum of Design, and Düsseldorf’s NRW-Forum.
Comte is known for his unusual ability to capture both glamour and vulnerability in his work with models and celebrities. His photographs are compelling not only for their beauty but also for the untold stories that seem to shimmer behind the images. Items of particular note include:
