FALL EUROPEAN ANTIQUE BUYING TOUR – STRONG DOLLAR AND TAX-FREE SHOPPING MEAN BARGAINS The strong dollar and tax-free shopping are luring lovers of antiques, vintage, industrial and good design to Europe this fall. A small-group antiques tour in September features new sources.
News-Antique.com - Jul 30,2015 - Philadelphia, PA – July 30, 2015 – Industrial furniture, mid-century and vintage antique furniture, Baroque antiques, art, French antiques, collectibles, decor and design objects are on tap for a small-group antique and vintage shopping tour to “Europe’s Attic,” September 24-October 4, 2015.
The trip includes under-the-radar antiques and design spots in northern Bavaria, Saxony (the former East Germany), and Belgium that international buyers seldom visit.
Participants will scour warehouses, mom-and-pop shops, galleries, wholesalers and farmsteads. Also on the itinerary: two of Europe’s leading antique fairs, featuring thousands of sellers from across western Europe as well as Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. Shared container shipping is available.
“Tax-free shopping and the strong dollar make shopping for antiques and design in Europe more appealing than ever,” says Philadelphia-based dealer Tom Conrad.
“We offer new destinations, a brisk pace and hot sources in regions of Europe where most American antique lovers never venture,” added Conrad, who will lead the expedition for Treasures of Europe Tours.
Dubbed the “Antiques Road Pro” by the press, Conrad has been organizing back-roads antique shopping tours for dealers, trend scouts, designers and collectors for ten years. The trips have been featured in USA Today, Country Living, Australian House and Garden and the trade press.
The fall tour begins and ends in Frankfurt and includes Leipzig and Bamberg plus the Vogtland and several small towns and villages in Franconia and Saxony (Germany).
The Belgian leg of the tour includes Brussels and stops in Antwerp, Bruges, Turnhout and other more remote destinations, as well as Belgium’s antiques capitol Tongeren.
The tour is designed to help participants squeeze the most out of ten days on the antiques trail. Only a few spaces are left. The remaining seats are being offered on a first-come-first serve basis.
