Picollecta – the picture-sharing community for collectors – today announces its plan to build the world's largest collection of tennis memorabilia.
New and existing users are invited to upload pictures from their tennis memorabilia collection onto the Sports Memorabilia section of the website throughout the first week of Wimbledon.
Picollecta encourages both tennis memorabilia collectors and private dealers to get involved. All items uploaded to Picollecta from external websites receive a hyperlink back to the source website.
Picollecta’s Dawn Bruce comments: “I can’t wait to see all the great tennis memorabilia out there. Personally I really hope we unearth one of Pat Cash’s black-and-white headbands from his win at Wimbledon – so iconic!”
And as a special thank-you to those who upload their collections, the picture with the most likes by Monday, June 30 will win a vintage Wimbledon Members' Lawn Chair, worth an estimated £395 ($670).
With its traditional Wimbledon colours of purple and green, the wooden picnic chair offers the perfect accompaniment to any tennis fans’ Wimbledon viewing.
Bruce comments: “People travel from around the world to visit Wimbledon each year – not just to watch great matches, but to soak up its history and atmosphere.
“It’s the home of tennis, a British institution, and there’s definitely a bit of magic about the place. We can’t offer you front row seats on Centre Court – but we can give tennis fans the chance to grab their own little piece of Wimbledon history.”
Those interested in taking part can register for Picollecta here.
