Garth’s Offers Three-Day Auction of Fine & Decorative Arts, Paintings & More Garth’s Auctions (based in Delaware, Ohio) is keeping buyers busy with multiple sessions during the last weekend of January.
The sales will include over 900 lots offered in four sessions.

Rounding out the sale are several fine examples of contemporary works which will add punch to any decor. Saint George and the Dragon by Salvador Dali, consigned by the the late William Martin of Cleveland, Ohio, can be taken home for $7,000-9,000 or a drawing of the iconic Campbell’s Tomato Soup Can by Andy Warhol has an estimate of $2,000-$4,000. The Joker or Uncle Sam by Jack Eugene Earl are each ceramic figures expected to bring $3,000-5,000. Ten other works by Earl, known for the story-telling qualities of his figures, will also be sold. An abstract by Dale Patrick Chihuly with vivid colors has a pre-auction estimate of $4,000-6,000. Fruits and Flowers II by Donald Sultan, is comprised of four canvases, each titled and signed. The group carries an estimate of $10,000-12,000.
On Saturday, January 25th at 2:00 pm, Garth’s will top off the week of sales with a virtual (online only) auction of the Charles J. & Mary Scarlett Pennock Audubon's Birds of America. Mr. Pennock graduated from Cornell University and became an ornithologist for the states of Delaware and Pennsylvania in the late 1800’s. Mr. Pennock traveled often to Pennsylvania’s historic Kennett Square and one day bought several cartons of Audubon's from a local book shop. Mrs. Pennock quickly fell in love with the Audubons as well and the couple displayed them in their home and enjoyed them for years. The Audubon's were later inherited and eventually consigned to Garth’s by their daughter, Mary Scarlett Allen Arth, of Bedford, Ohio. This session offers over 100 lots of lithographs by John James Audubon (America/France, 1785-1851). The online-only sale begins with four Birds of America hand colored lithographs (estimate: $150-$300) and continues with over 100 lots, offering many options in color and style. The back cover of the catalog highlights a colorful examples of the lithographs including “Baltimore Oriole” or “Hang-nest, Crimson-fronted Purple Finch, Western Blue Bird, and Sooty Tern”.
