News-Antique.com - Oct 24,2013 - Is it a longing for the rugged, authentic lifestyle of days gone by or a luxury indulgence of today that tempts collectors? Either way, Garthís of Delaware, Ohio will offer a taste of it all during A Gentlemanís Auction featuring Sporting Firearms, Rare Wine & Spirits, Advertising, Taxidermy & more on Friday, November 1, 2013. ďIn sharing our enthusiasm for a handful of consignments that we procured earlier this year (the Westlake Cache, the Clenet Coachworks car, the Louis Vuitton trunk, the 19th century cabin), the staff discussed the possibility of curating an auction inspired by and geared toward gentlemanly pursuits,Ē explained Jeff Jeffers, CEO of Garthís. ďAs we spoke with more and more consignors, enthusiasm for the concept spread - and the result is an interesting and unique assortment of jewelry, furnishings and collectibles that hold broad appeal within a common collecting audience. It will be a perfect opportunity to pick up an item for a man cave, office or even garage!Ē
One of the highlights of the auction is certain to be a ď1989 Clenet Coachworks Cabriolet*.Ē Harkening to the design aesthetics and curvilinear forms of the 1930s while utilizing modern technology, the Clenet name became the epitome of luxury and style throughout the late 20th century. By all accounts, this magnificent car was hand-assembled for a group of investors (who were interested in reforming Clenet Coachworks) with oversight by the renowned Leonard Rivero, founder of Dragon Coachworks. With only 16046 original miles, this car has won over 300 awards and over 100 best in shows in car expositions throughout North America and, should the buyer desire, its trophy collection comes along for the ride to a new home. As one of the only 1989 Cabriolets built, it is a significant piece of Clenet Coachworks history. Car enthusiasts will be clamoring for all the amenities within including the 302 fuel injected Ford V8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering, power windows, air conditioning, black diamond mirror finish, cut glass side windows, crystal hood ornament, mahogany running boards, chrome side pipes, leather seats, hand loomed wool carpet, wool upholstered head liner, burl wood high gloss dash, walnut gear shift knob, cut crystal backlit front and rear ash receivers, and a 24k gold plated steering wheel signed Enzo Nardi. The estimate is $75,000-85,000.
Whether embarking on a journey or taking a short trip in your new car, to be truly dapper one should own a legendary Louis Vuitton monogrammed dome-top trunk. A true statement piece, the hinged lid and front panel each open to reveal a fitted interior with tray over two drawers, and the label reading "Louis Vuitton 875538, Av Marcea 78 bis Paris, Nice. 2Ave De Suede". The estimate is $1,000-2,000, which is also the expected range for the Louis Vuitton Damier canvas Pegase 55 suitcase. Itís the ideal carry-on size.
For the alcohol enthusiast or aficionado in your life, there will be several choice lots available. Take this opportunity to own a crate of Coronet Dry Gin. This
