News-Antique.com - Apr 29,2013 - With its svelte Pininfarina designed-and-built bodywork, four-liter Colombo V-12 engine and race-bred fully-independent chassis, Ferrari’s 330 GTC redefined the time-honored Italian Grand Touring concept at a single stroke when it debuted for 1966 at Geneva. Universally praised by respected motoring journalists then and now for its excellent all-around capabilities, sublime driving dynamics, and tasteful luxury, the 330 GTC was produced only through 1968 with just 600 examples built. Long associated with the era’s luminaries and the world’s most beautiful and exotic locations, the 330 GTC remains a landmark Ferrari model in every respect.
Fittingly, Russo and Steele’s inaugural Newport Beach auction event scheduled for June 20 – 22 will feature the offering of a very special 330 GTC Coupe, well-documented as Ferrari’s display car at the 1966 Turin Show. Numbered 9159 and bearing early history including shipment to noted South American Ferrari distributor Carlos Kaufman of Venezuela when new, 9159 eventually made its way to the United States and the personal collection of gallery owner Robert Slack of Atlanta, Georgia, who commissioned its restoration in Italy.
Now offered from single ownership for the past nine years and resplendent in its original color scheme of Silver with Black leather upholstery, 9159 remains a particularly handsome example of Ferrari’s definitive Grand Touring model of the late-1960s. In particular, with its coveted status as Ferrari’s 1966 Turin Show car, 9159 is also one of the most desirable and enjoyable Ferrari road cars available today, blessed with exceptional balance, performance, and unmistakable style.
