This year, Betty Harrington, principal designer for Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison, would have turned 100. To mark the occasion, CAS Collectors is throwing an extra-special party! The theme of the group’s 2013 Convention, set for Saturday, August 24th, 2013 in Madison, is “Happy Birthday, Betty! A CAS Family Reunion!” In addition to celebrating “Betty’s 100th”, collectors will also celebrate the enduring appeal of Ceramic Arts figurines, which brightened homes from coast to coast during the 1940s and ‘50s, and continue to brighten hearts today.
From 9 am to 4 pm on August 24th, Convention attendees will take in the Wisconsin Pottery Association Show & Sale at the Alliant Energy Center. Later, all will gather at Madison’s Howard Johnson Plaza for the Convention festivities, with activities and décor centered around a fun-filled “birthday party” theme. There’ll be games from long ago, party favors and hats, souvenirs, colorful centerpieces, – even a birthday cake! In short, everything that makes family reunions so unforgettable.
Getting the evening underway will be a social hour, and the popular “CAS On Display Contest”; all in attendance are invited to submit entries. A buffet dinner, raffle, and membership meeting will be followed by the club’s annual auction, featuring professional auctioneer Shirley Baumann. Events will conclude with door prizes, and presentation of the 2013 CAS Collectors Commemorative.
Convention registration, which remains at $60 per person, includes all evening activities, plus the Commemorative. Registrations received by May 31st will be eligible for an “Earliest Earlybird” prize drawing, to be held at the Convention. Forms and additional information are available on the club’s website, www.cascollectors.com, or by writing CAS Collectors, 206 Grove Street, Rockton, IL 61072.
