News-Antique.com - Feb 05,2013 - AD20/21: Art & Design of the 20th & 21st Centuries combined with The Boston Print Fair takes place March 21-24, 2013, at The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts in Boston's South End. AD20/21 features galleries specializing in modern to contemporary furniture, glass, ceramics and decorative arts alongside a wide array of modern to contemporary fine art. The Print Fair features dealers in American, European and Asian fine prints, drawings, photography and other works on paper. The only show of its kind, AD20/21 features fine art and design in all disciplines representing major design movements of the 20th century. Notably, the show also includes outstanding 21st century fine art, prints, studio furniture, glass, ceramics, decorative arts, jewelry, photography, and more, bridging the gap between historical styles and contemporary works, and deepening collectors' appreciation for both.
New galleries this year include all three of Boston’s newest contemporary galleries, Adelson Galleries Boston, a new branch of Adelson Galleries of Manhattan; Gold Gallery, launched by entrepreneur Adam Gold; and Sloane Merrill Gallery, now open on Boston’s famed Charles Street at the base of Beacon Hill. Other new exhibitors include America Dural of Cambridge, headed by interior designer Phillip Jude Miller; Charon Kransen Arts (NY), one of the country’s leading dealers in contemporary jewelry from across the globe; FitzRoy Knox and Judith Pommer, both galleries from New York City; and The Tolman Collection of Tokyo and New York, specializing in Japanese prints. Returning galleries include Mid-Century Modern dealers Bridges Over Time (NY), Machine Age (MA) and Glen Leroux Antiques (NY).
Landry & Arcari (MA) will once again offer modern to contemporary Oriental rugs, and three contemporary furniture designers will add to the mix: 60Nobscot Home (MA), City Joinery (MA) and Javier Ybarra (MA), and well as the innovative Room 68 (MA), with its collection of contemporary studio design for the home. Alastair Crawford, a well-know dealer in silver, will exhibit as CRAWFORD (CT), his own contemporary design studio featuring jewelry, silver, and other design accessories and decorative arts. Robert Lloyd (NY), also known as a dealer in historical silver, will exhibit modern and contemporary fine art including an outstanding collection of original oil on canvas maquettes for Guinness beer, along with decorative and precious objects. Palette Contemporary Art & Craft returns from New Mexico offering an interesting mix of fine art, glass, vintage watches and radios and more.
Outstanding fine art galleries returning to the show include Childs Gallery (MA), Martha Richardson Fine Art (MA) and Susanna J. Fichera (ME). The Boston Print Fair section of the show will feature three contemporary print publishers: Center Street Studio (MA), Oehme Graphics (CO) and Manneken Press (IL), along with returning print exhibitors Edward T.
