Art Deco Jewelry & Colored Stones
Art Deco makes an impressive appearance with the auction’s cover lot, an exquisite platinum and diamond pendant by Cartier, France (lot 801, estimated between $30,000 and $50,000). Other notable Art Deco pieces include a platinum and diamond longchain (lot 802, $40,000 to $60,000), a Cartier “Tutti Frutti” dress clip (lot 800, $25,000 to $35,000), a platinum and heart-shape diamond solitaire (lot 774, $10,000 to $15,000), and a platinum and diamond lapel watch by Van Cleef & Arpels (lot 771, $8,000 to $10,000).
Colored stones are shining brightly just in time for the holidays! Featured pieces include a platinum, ruby, and diamond ring set with an oval-cut ruby weighing approximately 4.00 cts, accompanied by an AGL report stating Classic Burma origin, with no indication of heat (lot 786, $40,000 to $60,000); an Edwardian platinum, sapphire, and diamond ring accompanied by AGL report no. Tiffany Jewelry
Works by Tiffany & Co. are well represented. Highlights include a rare carved ivory and sapphire snuff box by Georges le Sache and retailed by Tiffany & Co. (lot 766, $2,000 to $3,000). Georges le Sache began his career collaborating with Lucien Falize, and then went on to take over the important manufacturing firm of Baucheron & Guilian. Fine carving was one of le Sache’s many talents, and he became one of the most desired manufacturers in Paris, supplying many of the finest jewelry firms, including Boucheron and Tiffany & Co.
A renaissance revival 18kt gold gem-set and enamel pendant/brooch (lot 767, $8,000 to $12,000), an Arts & Crafts moonstone and split pearl necklace (lot 769, $8,000 to $12,000), and an 18kt gold and jade pendant necklace set with Chinese jades depicting a goldfish with and a cat (lot 695, $18,000 to $22,000) will be auctioned.
