CALDER, CHIHULY AND STICKLEY TO HIGHLIGHT DECEMBER AUCTION Dedham, MA – Grogan and Company Fine Art Auctioneers and Appraisers are pleased to announce their upcoming December 2nd Auction which will be comprised of over 500 lots of Fine Art, Furniture, Decorat
with it’s original label bears a $400-600 estimate. An Aesthetic movement Carved Walnut Marquetry inlaid bedroom suite, attributed to Herter Brothers, includes a bed, two chairs, a side table, bureau and mirror, and is estimated at $10,000-20,000.
In keeping with the Americana tradition, decorative arts highlights include an American Molded Copper Grasshopper Weathervane, attributed to 19th century Waltham maker Cushing and White, which bears a presale estimate of $2,000-4,000. A Marblehead Pottery yellow ground vase with floral decoration together with a blue ground tile with a sailing motif bear a $1,000-1,5000 estimate. Art glass offerings include Seaforms, a set of four blown glass works by Dale Chihuly. Created in 1998, the pink and yellow glass with horizontal banding is estimated to bring $10,000-20,000; while a 22 inch high Glass Vessel, by the California artist, William Morris, c. 1987, should bring $5,000-10,000. An early American None Such Tin Frame Advertising Lantern advertising pumpkin pie, mincemeat and condensed soup, with “Our Flag is First, Our Goods the Best” motto is estimated to fetch $2,000-4,000.
Other highlights include a Stained and Leaded Glass Quatrefoil Shaped Window bearing the inscription “Si Je Puis”, attributed to Tiffany & Company of New York. The window was created in 1906 for the prominent Calhoun family of Minneapolis and is estimated at $3,000-5,000. A small Wool and Cotton Hooked rug depicting a dog sled, handmade by Grenfell Labrador Industries in the early 20th century, bears an estimate of $1,000-2,000; while the most unusual item in the sale, a 1965 Mustang Two Door Fastback, should sell between $8,000-12,000. Silver highlights include a Fine Kennard & Jenks Mixed Metal ‘Japanesque’ Bowl, estimated at $3,000-5,000; while an extensive American Silver Flatware Service by Dominick & Haff in a fitted maple box, is estimated at $4,000-5,000.
The auction will conclude with a selection of over 50 Oriental Rugs, Textiles and Carpets from various estates and collections.
The exhibition is open to the public and begins on Thursday, Novmeber 29th. Hours: Thursday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
