The Antique Council's members must uphold the highest standards for our Art & Antiques in the Antiques Marketplace.
The Antiques Council is a professional association of antique dealers that mandates the highest ethical and professional standards. Members are selected by their peers for the quality of their merchandise, their expertise, and integrity. The green plaque with the AC logo is the trademark of Antiques Council membership. When displayed in a shop window or in a booth at an antique show, it is a sign of both authenticity and quality, from an expert with whom you can feel confident when you acquire something for your home or your collection.
Since its inception in 1990, this leading not-for-profit association has worked to:
Set the highest possible standards for member conduct.
Educate the public about the field of antiques, their acquisition and collecting
Provide antique show management services to other not-for-profits and charities in order to produce fine antique shows.

There are currently more than 80 dealer members throughout the North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. Membership is by invitation only, and all members are evaluated annually. Each member is required to perform the following tasks when selling an item:
Provide a written invoice that includes age, origin, construction, and disclosure of condition
Guarantee every item to be as described.
Make a full refund if the description proves to misrepresent the item (provided that the antique is returned in the same condition in which it was sold).
Education of the public is extremely important to our mission and we encourage our members to publish articles on topics of interest within their respective specialties. The Journal of the Antiques Council, our own publication, is available on line and includes articles by our members on a long list of topics in the field of antiques scholarship and collecting. Members also participate in educational events at Council managed shows that include such things as guided tours, lectures, and informal booth chats.

ANTIQUE SHOWS MANAGED BY THE ANTIQUES COUNCIL
All antiques presented for sale in an Antiques Council Show must be clearly and correctly labeled. Dealers are required to adhere to published standards for quality and authenticity, and must provide a full description on the bill of sale and guarantee all items for authenticity. The public can always have confidence purchasing antiques at a show managed by the Antiques Council.
