legendary status. Comparisons to first growth Bordeaux abound, but the wine is the concentrated essence of Napa Valley.
Additional offerings include a cache of mature Gaja, one of the best producers in Italy, featuring vintages back as far as 1978. Young Grand Cru white Burgundy from top producers and single-bottle lots of the Cult California Cabernet, Screaming Eagle are also available.
Mature Port
There is a strong presence of mature port at the sale featuring standout vintages from 1966, 1970 and 1977. One example of note is a Calem vintage port 1966 (lot 233, $650 to $950). Long considered the drink of the English Gentleman, port has recently seen an increase in interest and appreciation from collectors in the US.
