THE VINTAGE BAZAAR ANNOUNCES MONTHLY FLEA MARKET ARAGON BALLROOM THIS SUMMER 150+ VENDOR INDOOR/OUTDOOR SUNDAY FLEA MARKET TO KICK OFF SUNDAY, JUNE 10 IN CHICAGO
News-Antique.com - Jun 01,2012 - CHICAGO (May 10, 2012) - The Vintage Bazaar is a modern pop-up vintage market that since its 2010 founding has "popped up" in a series of vacant storefronts and event spaces in Chicago including the Congress Theater, the DANK Haus, and the Empty Bottle. Today it announces the market will partner with Uptown Events, LLC to produce a monthly summer market series at the Aragon Ballroom, 1106 W. Lawrence Ave., and the adjacent lots at Lawrence and Winthrop Avenues, in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.
This marks the establishment of a permanent and much larger home for The Vintage Bazaar, which means Chicago’s fastest growing, most well-attended, and highly-anticipated vintage market can expand and offer a wider variety of vintage items, plus farm, floral, plant, and food vendors, and food trucks. Founders Katherine Raz and Libby Alexander originally designed the Vintage Bazaar as a pop-up series that could occur in any number of places at any time of year. “But Chicago shoppers are hungry for a regular, all-inclusive market,” Raz says.
The now-monthly summer market series will commence Sunday, June 10. Markets will be held on the second Sunday of the month from 12pm-5pm through September (July 8, August 12, September 9). The monthly market cycle will continue beginning Sunday, May 12, 2013. (The June 10 show, originally scheduled to take place at the Congress Theater in Logan Square, has been relocated to the Aragon to commence the series.)
The market will feature a twist on the classic flea with 150+ vendors of vintage housewares, furniture, decor, clothing, jewelry, and accessories, plus flowers and plants. In addition, a pop-up food court and mini farmers market is planned and will feature farmers-market-style vendors, local food vendors, and food trucks. The market also includes craft beer and cocktails indoors, DJ entertainment, a pop-up barbershop, retro makeup and hair styling, and other fun activities, including free (with admission) architectural tours of the historic ballroom on the second floor of the Aragon. Market admission is $5. Kids 12 and under are free.
The Vintage Bazaar focuses on unique home goods, clothing, and lifestyle products at a variety of price points for shoppers with discerning taste. The partnership with Aragon and Uptown Events, LLC will allow the market to expand to over 150 vendors, more than doubling the amount of vendors The Vintage Bazaar has featured at any previous market. Added to the mix of the best vintage dealers from Chicagoland and the Midwest will be artisan designers who work with vintage materials to create new furniture, decor, lighting, jewelry, and gift items. The event is presented by Krrb.com, sponsored by the Chicago Reader, Uptown Events, Uptown United, 46th Ward Alderman Cappleman, Joe’s Barbershop, CHIRP, One Tail at a Time, Unscene, and Bowtruss Coffee Roasters as the exclusive coffee roaster and seller for the entire summer.
