This event is an opportunity for you to invite your family and friends to participate in a virtual tea party instead of attending a formal event. The concept of our Mothers’ Day Tea is a simple and effective way to raise funds that support The Foundation’s mission is committed to finding new therapies and ultimately a cure for CF, and to improving the lives of those with the disease.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the US.
A defective gene causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the airways and leads to life-threatening lung infections, obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
More than 10 million Americans are unknowing, syptomless carriers of the defective CF gene. The disease occurs in one of every 3,500 live births of all Americans and about 1,000 new cases of CF are diagnosed each year.
Kate Butler created Decotique.com in 2008 in honor of her step-daughter, Jessica, who succumbed to CF the previous year.
Since then, she has also established ArtDecotique.com where you can contact her regarding CF related information. This site also contains information regarding her lecture series of informative and entertaining talks on such topics as vintage and historical clothing and accessories.
A portion of Kate’s Decotique and ArtDecotique Lecture Series proceeds are donated to benefit The CF Foundation through the Delaware Valley Chapter, Broomall, PA.
