Decotique Spring/Summer Lecture Series Decotique Presents Talk on Evolution of Swim Suit & Seashore Memoribilia , Thursday, April 19th, 2012, Brandeis University National Committee, Jackson, NJ.
News-Antique.com - Apr 17,2012 - As a child, Kate @ Decotique spent many happy hours vacationing “down the shore,” on the beaches of Southern New Jersey. She has put together an informative and fun new talk on Historical Evolution of the Bathing Costume and Seaside Memorabilia. Kate has amassed a fine collection of antique and vintage clothing, photos, articles and seashore keepsakes going back as far as mid the 1800s Victorian Era.
Kate’s talk evolves to include vintage swimwear, accessories and memorabilia favorites from early 19th Century Edwardian and Depression Eras, Flappers of the Roaring Twenties through the Hollywood Glamour Era of Esther Williams and Betty Grable.
A talk featuring vintage swimwear wouldn’t be complete without samples of the 1950s and swinging 1960s bathing fashions and accessories, notably the bathing cap.
Kate’s traveling Seaside Talk includes original items of antique and vintage swimwear, accessories, photos, magazines, keepsakes and more. Her talks are informal, informative and mostly, lots of fun! Kate is interactive with her audience and provides lots of hands on memorabilia to enhance the Seaside experience.
Guests are welcome to bring related clothing, accessories and memorabilia for show and tell upon conclusion of the talk. Informal evaluations for personal items are available upon request.
Decotique.com was created in 2008 in honor of Kate’s daughter, Jessica, who succumbed to Cystic Fibrosis in 2007. Ten percent of Decotique’s proceeds benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
