This auction features more than 14 lots of rare Titanic memorabilia, including lot 6, the locket worn by Captain Smith’s wife and containing Captain Smith’s photo, until her death on April 28, 1931; and lot 9, a rare Titanic wage voucher for A.E. Horswell, Commander of Lifeboat #1, who carried this in his pocket as he fled the sinking ship. Other items collectors won’t want to miss include:
• Lot 3: Court order for Seaman Horswell to attend hearing investigating the Titanic disaster. Horswell was the seaman who operated the first Titanic lifeboat. Though the lifeboat could hold 65 people, only 12 were on board. Seaman Horswell testified for 21 days, beginning on Friday, May 3, 1912.
• Lot 10: Radio script about the Titanic disaster. Chicago WGN 9 page radio script accounting the events leading up to and the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. Edited by Albert Horswell (Seaman assigned to lifeboat #1).
• Lot 11: Survivor, Mrs. Frederick Roland Kenyon’s necklace and locket. Locket contains photos of both herself and her husband inside. She was on lifeboat #8. Mrs. Kenyon never remarried, relocated to southern California and died there on Oct. 3, 1958.
