The Gallery @ FOUND is pleased to present sculptor Donna Faivre-Roberts in a new show titled Wisdom of the Wood.
Ms. Faivre-Roberts’ figurative sculptures are a fusion of sand-worn wood and other natural objects with faces and other 'human' elements sculpted from clay. Her figures vary from whimsical and spiritual to dreamlike and surreal. After gathering, washing and sorting, the wood is rubbed with beeswax and orange oil. This is the moment when the true beauty of the wood is revealed and a figure begins to emerge.
Wisdom of the Wood opens on Wednesday, April 18th. An opening reception will take place on Thursday, April 19th from 5-7. Stop by to meet Donna, see the show and enjoy a little after-hours shopping. Refreshments will be served!!
The Gallery at FOUND is an intimate art space located within FOUND in Ithaca, the area’s newest antique and vintage marketplace. The gallery showcases works of local artists who utilize found imagery, found objects or employ an up-cycling philosophy in their work. FOUND will remain open during the artist’s reception. Come browse through 7,000 square feet of hand selected, artfully arranged treasures from our forty five dealers.
