News-Antique.com - Mar 13,2012 - We added a huge 20,117 items to the database in February, including a huge amount of Corgi’s more modern models and classic Corgi Juniors! Not to mention New Cavendish Books becoming the first publisher to have its toy-related books added to the database. Since ToyPedia is intended to be the complete resource for collectable toys and models, we’ve always intended to catalogue books, publications and everything else that’s related – so it really is the COMPLETE resource. This is just the start!
February also marked our second year of attendance at the world-famous Nuremberg Toy Fair (see our coverage here), where we had a rapturous reception. We met with 94 different toy manufacturers and brands, out of which a fantastic 92 have agreed to support the project, while 107 out of the 128 dealers and sellers we talked to are very keen to use the new sales platform, some now and others after the introduction of our pending API. We greatly look forward to data and ongoing update support from the manufacturers – and to welcoming all the exciting new sellers on board!
We also rolled out our new Update Programme. When we catalogue obsolete toys and extinct classic brands,we know our listings will be complete and correct – but when the
company is still in existence, that means they keep making new things and we have to keep adding them! So we’ve devised a new programme of ongoing communication with companies to keep us updated on their new products. So far, we’ve enrolled BBR, Brooklin Models, Epoche, FrontiArt, Look Smart, Otto Mobile, Thomas Gunn and TrueScale Miniatures with more brands joining daily.
And last but not least, we have some exciting new names on the ToyPedia Advisory Board – the panel we’ve put together consisting of industry figures, collectors and experts who’ll be assisting us with their invaluable knowledge as we develop ToyPedia. Joining us in February are Allen Levy, owner of ACE Trains, publisher at New Cavendish Books with an excellent understanding of many toy and model subjects and John Houghton, the author of the Definite Guide to Matchbox Toys 1-75 Series 1953 to 1969.
