Wikicollecting.org Launches Series of Free 'How To...' Guides The online collectibles resource and encyclopedia Wikicollecting.org has launched a new series of free 'How To...' guides for collectors.
News-Antique.com - Mar 07,2012 - The collecting website Wikicollecting.org has announced the launch of its new ‘How To...’ section, featuring guides for budding collectors.
The initial guides cover subjects including autographs, coins, postage stamps and comic books, with many more to be announced in the coming weeks.
The guides will include ideas on how to build collections, store them correctly and avoid pitfalls such as fake items. The guides also link to directories of reputable specialist dealers, along with jargon-busting lists of collecting terms for every category.
Wikicollecting.org’s open-source format means that users can also create their own collecting guides, or add their expertise to existing ones.
“Wikicollecting is built on the passion and knowledge of collectors around the world, and we wanted to create a platform where people can share their experience and advice with novice collectors,” said Wikicollecting Project Manager Simon Lindley. “These guides are just a starting point for us – we’d love users to add their own tips and help build the most comprehensive free collecting guides anywhere on the web.”
The new section is part of the site’s expansion plans for 2012, with a number of new features to be launched in coming months.
