Joseph DuMouchelle are premier gemologists and auctioneers specializing in buying, selling, auctioning and appraising fine estate jewelry and gems. The jewelry collection of the December 7 sale is striking. To be auctioned is a beautiful platinum and 18kt yellow gold Heyman Brothers necklace consisting of pear-shaped diamonds and emeralds. Also by Heyman Brothers is a stunning blue sapphire and diamond ring. Every single piece is a standout, but one of the stars of the jewelry collection is a platinum and marquise diamond ring by Harry Winston. Also not to be missed is a Gerardo Sacco silver on gold, diamond, carved emerald, sapphire and natural pearl necklace. This Renaissance style necklace was stated to be worn by Elizabeth Taylor in Franco Zeffirelli’s film The Young Toscanini.
In addition to jewelry, the sale includes a fine selection of furniture, pottery, paintings, sculptures, and more. The range of Asian art to be auctioned is noteworthy. Highlights of the Chinese collection include an antique bronze sculpture of a standing male figure holding a lizard and a carved disk, antique carved wood horses, and a carved nephrite jade temple with an intricate dragon motif. Also of special interest is an Art Deco, Charlton & Co miniature desk clock that bears a Chinese dragon design on the face with abalone, mother-of-pearl and hard stone accents. Among the impressive furniture collection is an antique English Chinoiserie secretary with mirrored doors and an antique chest of Asian design inlaid with tortoise shells.
