So to celebrate the festive season, Wikicollecting presents a list of ten of the most expensive classic children's toys ever sold.

G.I Joe was the world’s first action figure, and he’s also the most valuable. The first prototype of the All-American Hero, hand carved and painted in 1963 by his inventor Don Levine, was sold at a Heritage auction in 2003 for $200,000.
It was bought by Stephen A. Geppi, noted toy collector and founder of the Geppi’s Entertainment Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.
Barbie doll - $302,500
The world’s most expensive Barbie Doll has some serious bling about her. Created in 2007 by the Australian designer Stefano Canturi, the doll wore a black strapless party dress, black stilettos and a necklace featuring a one carat pink diamond surrounded by three carat white diamonds.
It was sold at a Christie's auction in New York in October 2010 for $302,500, with all proceeds donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Monopoly - $146,500
Monopoly has appeared in hundreds of variations throughout its history, but the most expensive copy ever sold at auction is the earliest surviving example made in 1933.
Hand-made by the game’s purported inventor Charles Darrow, the set features a circular board cut from oilcloth along with hand-made hotels and printed instructions. It was sold at Sotheby's in December 2010 as part of the Malcolm Forbes Toy Collection for a record price of $146,500.
Teddy Bear - $195,000
The world’s most expensive teddy bear is also one of the best-dressed. In 2000, 41 Steiff bears were created for the ‘Teddies de l’An 2000’ auction in Monaco. Called ‘The Little One’, each bear was dressed by a different designer and set in a specific scene.
The auction’s top bear was dressed by Louis Vuitton and sold to the South Korean industrialist Jessie Kim for a World record price of $195,000.
Toy car - $140,000
The world’s most expensive toy car would be more at home on your finger than zooming around the floor. In 2009 Hot Wheels produced their four billionth toy car, and celebrated their 40th anniversary.
To mark the occasion, they commissioned the world’s most valuable Hot Wheels car in the shape of a jewel-encrusted Otto model made from white gold, featuring 2,700 diamonds and rubies for tail-lights. But at a price of $140,000, it’s more likely to end up in a jewellery box than a toy box.
Doll - $263,000
The most valuable doll ever sold at auction was created by the French sculptor Albert Marque. In 1914 Marque created a series of 100 dolls for the French fashion house of Jeanne Margaine-LaCroix, who dressed them in custom hand-made outfits. They were exhibited in Paris in 1919 and have become the ‘Holy Grail’ of doll collecting.
In July 2009 a Marque doll dressed to commemorate the Ballets Russes of Paris sold at a Theriault's auction in Atlanta for a World record price of £263,000.
