Julia’s Rare Glass & Lamp Division is the leader in this genre throughout North America. This special two-day auction will feature the important collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones, a connoisseur of glass and ceramics who spent a lifetime in pursuit of the finest and most interesting works in these materials. While she collected internationally, the richest part of her collection is American glass, much of which is offered in this important auction. Serious collectors of glass should not miss this opportunity to acquire wonderful and rare works of superb quality unlikely to be seen again soon. Of particular interest in the Jones collection is an early labor union banner that reads, “Flint Glass Cutters Union No. 63 Meriden, CT A.F.G.W. U.” The banner illustrates the social history of glass making and is a fantastic display item for a glass collection. The Day 1 sale consists of early glass, Victorian glass and a fantastic array of beautiful antique and contemporary paperweights.
The Day 2 sale consists of fine art glass including Steuben, Durand, Quezal, and Tiffany, in addition to French art glass including Daum, Galle, E. Michel, and Le Verre Francais. A fine array of lamps features works by Tiffany, Duffner & Kimberly, Handel, Pairpoint, and Wilkinson. Perhaps the star of the collection is an exquisite peony table lamp from Tiffany Studios. Also not to be missed are two outstanding works by Dale Chihuly: a vase from his “Blanket” series, and a studio piece from his Macchia series. Here are two chances to acquire handsome glass by a famous American glass artist!
