News-Antique.com - Nov 15,2011 - HIGHWOOD, IL (November 2011) – The City of Highwood introduced the new North Shore Flea to its renowned Evening Gourmet Farmers Market this past summer to celebrate the rise in popularity of vintage. Now, December 2nd, 3rd and 4th the North Shore Flea will be doing it’s very own Holiday Market to coincide with Highwood for the Holidays, an annual event to support local troops stationed in near by Great Lakes Naval and Fort Sheridan.
The North Shore Flea Holiday “Pop Up” show will take place in Highwood and in an empty storefront nestled in between Highwood’s new Tap House Grill and Washington Gardens at 258 Green Bay Road. For 3 days only- December 2nd, 3rd and 4th- thirteen vendors carrying various types of vintage goods will be on hand to sell their wares including sparkling vintage costume jewelry, vintage holiday décor, vintage clothing, coats and dresses, clothing and accessories for men and more.
“Vintage is hip, current and many pieces are one of a kind,” says Melissa Sands, founder of the North Shore Flea. “I love vintage because you can find something unique and well made that can actually hold it’s value, plus it’s the perfect gift!”
“Chicago is a great place for pop up markets. A pop-up show is simply that, a show or store that pops up for a short amount of time with all fresh merchandise, then at the end of the weekend, you pack up what little is left and go home. It’s exciting and fun and you’d better get it if you see it, otherwise it’ll be gone.” Said Sands.
Wine and snacks will be served on Friday night from 5pm to 10pm and we will be asking for a 2.00 donation at the door to support military families.
