His Oilers jersey from the 1985-86 season sold for $30,000 at Grey Flannel Auctions in 2006.
9. Ebbie Goodfellow 1939 All Star jersey
Ebbie Goodfellow’s 1939 All Star Game jersey sold for $30,000 at Heritage Auctions in October 2008.
Although the All Star game is now a yearly event, just three took place in the 1930s. The 1939 event was held to commemorate Babe Siebert, the former Montreal Canadiens player and would-be manager, who died earlier that year.
The game was contested between a select group of the game’s best players – the “All Stars”, and the Montreal Canadiens.
Goodfellow won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red wings three times between 1936 and 1940.
8. Phil Esposito 1963-64 Chicago Blackhawks rookie jersey
Phil Esposito wore this jersey during his first year with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1963-64. It sold for $35,850 at Heritage Auctions in 2010.
The future Hall of Famer had a modest first season by his standards, scoring just three goals and five points in 27 games.
The Canadian centre would go on to play for the Boston Bruins, twice winning the Stanley Cup with them in the 1970s.
7. Russ Blinco 1934-35 Montreal Maroons jersey
Between 1924 and 1938 the Montreal Canadiens had competition in their own town from the Montreal Maroons, a team that garnered most of its support from the English speaking part of the city.
The Maroons won two Stanley Cups in their short history and in this jersey Russ Blinco helped them to their second win in the 1934-35 season.
It sold for $35,850 at Heritage Auctions in 2008.

Prior to the commencement of the annual All Star game during the 1947-48 NHL season, All Star games had been limited to occasional benefit matches.
Tough man Eddie Shore was actually responsible for the first game, a 1933 contest to benefit former player Ace Bailey. A hit by Shore on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ star had left Bailey unable to play again.
Shore participated in the 1933 game, and received his All Star jersey from Bailey in an act that demonstrated Bailey forgiveness.
