A Pair of Lucchese Cowboy Boots Likely from "True Grit" and "Rooster Cogburn."... (Total: 2 )
Lot # 44019: A Pair of Lucchese Cowboy Boots Likely from "True Grit" and "Rooster Cogburn." Paramount, 1969; Universal, 1975. Made of brown leather with tan-colored traditional stitching, inside stamped with maker's logo; inside right boot further stamped "495" while left boot notes "496" (indicating this is an unmatched pair and that another pair just like it exists elsewhere); heavily distressed; believed to be worn as Wayne portrayed "Rooster Cogburn" in both films as he had to walk through streams and raft down rivers where these boots would have gotten water damaged and cracked, their current condition.
Lot # 44013: A Cowboy Hat from "The Comancheros" and Possibly "True Grit."... (Total: 1 Items)
A Cowboy Hat from "The Comancheros" and Possibly "True Grit." 20th Century Fox, 1961; Paramount, 1969. Made of black felt, brown leather braid and twine hatband, inside stamped "W.C.C. 82 T" [Western Costume Company]; worn as Wayne portrayed "Ranger Captain Jake Cutter" in the film directed by Michael Curtiz and co-starring Lee Marvin and Patrick Wayne. According to Luster Bayless [Wayne's longtime costumer] in the 1996 book, "Duke, We're Glad We Knew You," by Herb Fagen, Wayne's "hat [from "True Grit"] was the same one he used in "The Comancheros" and "The Alamo." We just changed the block around." (Please note this hat is dusty and shows signs of wear.
