News-Antique.com - Aug 09,2011 - September antiques buying trip to Europe features small group, fresh new sources, great outdoor markets, tax-free antique shopping and container shipping.
Philadelphia, August 9, 2011 -- Join a small group of antique enthusiasts, designers, dealers, collectors and adventurers for a special dealer-led buying trip September 24-October 4, 2011.
We’ll be shopping in Central Europe, one of continent’s richest, least-known antiquing areas. The expedition includes two of the top antiques markets in Europe, plus under-the-radar dealers, wholesalers, galleries, warehouses, collectors and other venues.
Response from dealers, designers and collectors has been strong and the trip is nearly full. There are only two spaces left and the reservation period is closing soon.
The European antique tours have been featured in Country Living, USA Today, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Australian House and Garden and the trade press.
The fall antiques trip includes Leipzig, Prague, Bamberg plus small towns and villages off the beaten track in Northern Bavaria, the former East Germany and Central Bohemia and Northern Moravia (Czech Republic).
"Who doesn’t love a bargain? Central Europe is the best place to look for antique furniture, design, collectibles and estate treasures right now,” according to Philadelphia-based dealer, Tom Conrad, who will lead the trip and who has been buying in Europe for over 15 years.
“France, Italy, the UK and Belgium have grown expensive. We’re focusing on Central Europe because the antiques market there is underdeveloped and prices are much friendlier than in Western Europe. That makes it a great place for a bargain hunt,” he added.
The fall antique tour will spotlight European antique markets and dealers where buyers from the U.S. can stretch their dollar. We avoid tourist-oriented venues. The dealers we visit have a great selection and are eager to move their inventory. They are motivated to sell.
Shoppers from the U.S. have an added benefit: Their purchases are tax-free as long as they export the items they buy.
In addition, group container shipping after the tour will keep transportation costs low, so everyone benefits.
“The fall antique tour is designed to take the stress out of shopping for antiques. We take care of shipping, customs and other details is so participants can focus on ‘the hunt,’ and have a good time.”
The tour includes airport transfers, accommodations, ground transportation, private driver, guide and lots of extras. The group will stay in hand-picked historical hotels and local inns.
