Auction Zip to Host Trinity International’s Important American Russian and European Art sale
June 18th 2011, 12:00 PM EST
Avon, CT– On Saturday June 18, Trinity International Auctions and Appraisals will be conducting the sale of a unique selection of European and American paintings, prints, and sculpture as well as works by Russian and Asian artists at Trinity International’s headquarters on 2 Arts Center Lane.
Highlights of the auction are to include a bronze statue of the taming of a wild horse by the Baroque sculptor Guillaume Coustou I; a double-sided oil painting by the Post-Impressionist landscape painter Abraham Mannievich; and, from a private collection in Georgia, an Ernest Walbourn oil on canvas of girl by a riverside in a beautiful gilt frame.
Paintings by Rolph Scarlett and by Ralph Rosenborg will also appear in this sale. These two artists were early pioneers in the development of American abstract expressionism during the 1940s, and many of their works are in the permanent collections of several museums, including the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan.
Other notable 19th-20th century works up for auction include a still-life of fruits painted by Nicolai Fechin in NYC; a Robert Henri oil painting of a New York pier in the morning fog; and five lithographs by the legendary fashion illustrator Rene Gruau, one of which was featured in the Sept 2010 Dior show in London.
Preview for this sale is scheduled for Thursday June 16 and Friday June 17, from noon to 5 pm, and Saturday June 18 from 9:30 to 11:30 am. Lots can also be viewed at this time online at AuctionZip.com/live.
