News-Antique.com - May 24,2011 - 10) Spider-Man costumes - $35,000
In August 2008, costumes from Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 sold for $35,000 at a Profiles in History sale.
The lot included a Chinese burgundy satin dress with a pink silk scarf that was worn by Kirsten Dunst’s character Mary Jane in the World Unity Fair sequence in Spider-Man 2, as well as the facemask worn by Tobey Maguire as part of the Spideysuit.
The lot also included the wrestling costume worn by Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man, consisting of navy sweatpants, a red long sleeved hooded sweatshirt with a spider on the front and back and white leather gloves
9) Wolverine’s claws - $40,250
A set of claws worn by Hugh Jackman as a part of his Wolverine costume from X2: X-Men United, were sold by Profiles in History in 2007 for $40,250. They are apparently the only paired set of claws released from the studio.
The claws are made from hard plastic and are curved at the back end so that they fit between the wearer's knuckles. They are tapered to appear as if they are protruding directly from the skin.
8) Batman Returns Batsuit - $44,800
Michael Keaton’s costume from Batman Returns (1992) was sold by Julien’s Auctions in October 2010 for $44,800.
The costume consists of a latex cape, latex and foam bodysuit and boots made of Nike Air III shoes with added leather boot tops and boot armour.
The same auction saw the sale of Jim Carrey’s Riddler costume which sold for $7,360.
7) Daredevil costume - $57,500
Ben Affleck’s custom blood-red leather costume from Daredevil (2003) was sold by Profiles in History for $57,500 in August 2008.
The costume consisted of: a leather jacket with “DD” insignia and padding, matching leather trousers and boots, leather cowl, gloves and a belt with a holster for weapons. The lot also included Daredevil’s cane and three other staff weapons of assorted lengths.
6) Batman Forever Batsuit - $63,250
In April 2007, Val Kilmer’s Batsuit from Batman Forever sold for $63,250 at a Profiles in History sale.
The torso of the costume consisted of moulded foam latex over neoprene with matching foam latex muscular legs, a vented Sonar cowl, rubber Batbelt and the classic floor length rubber cape.
