The Rock N Roll collection, curated by Gary Sohmers of www.AllCollectors.com, includes a selection of Jimi Hendrix concert posters and concert programs include a the 1968 Miami Pop Festival at Gulfstream Park Poster and Handbill, an Atlanta Pop Festival poster, an unused ticket from the Bill Graham Fillmore concert featuring Rick Griffin’s Flying Eyeball known as BG105 and the 1969 Northern California Folk Rock Festival poster also featuring Led Zeppelin.
Concert posters from the Family Dog and the Fillmore in San Francisco in investment grade condition will be auctioned including the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, The Doors and others, created by the great psychedelic artists Stanley Mouse, Rick Griffin, Alton Kelley and Wes Wilson, among others. The concert selection will also include postcards, shirts, jewelry, flyers, contracts, photographs, tickets and handbills for performing artists and groups such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pink Floyd, The Fugs, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and others.
An unusually rare collection of 1960s concert posters from south Florida also are highlighted in this auction. An extremely hard to find Pow Wow Rock Festival poster featuring the Grateful Dead was actually used backstage and has the list of the bands set times hand written on the reverse. There are numerous posters from a 1960s music club in Miami call Thee Image featuring groups such as The Yardbirds, The Mothers of Invention (with Frank Zappa), The Lovin’ Spoonful and the Grateful Dead, among others.
A rare collection of original 1960s Rhythm & Blues cardboard boxing style concert posters of important musical such as Otis Redding, James Brown, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye with Tammy Terrell and others will also be offered to the highest bidder.
The Beatles will be represented by a rare first state “Yesterday and Today” Capitol Record album featuring the infamous “Butcher Cover” showing the Fab 4 in butcher smocks covered in blood holding hunks of meat and baby doll heads. A first state is the original first pressing and is offered in very good condition. Also offered are sets of, and single Beatles, autographs received in person and other memorabilia.
