News-Antique.com - Jan 05,2011 - Greeneville, TN - January 6, 2011 - The Tourism Department of the Greene County Partnership today announced that the Sixth Annual Antique Appraisal Fair and Antique Show will be held Saturday, February 19th, at Greeneville High School on Tusculum Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is FREE. As an added attraction this year, on Friday February 18th, representatives from the Tennessee State Library and Archives and the Tennessee State Museum will be on hand to record and digitize Civil War memorabilia owned by local residents for an upcoming exhibit titled, “Looking Back: The Civil War in Tennessee”. For more details on the archiving event please visit http://news-antique.com/?id=796088
This year's event will feature certified appraisers that will assess the value of antique treasures brought in by the public. A small fee of $5 will be charged per piece to be appraised. Also featured at the event will be local and regional antique shops displaying and selling their wares throughout the day. Local museums and historical attractions will also be on hand.
“At last year's event over 1,300 items were appraised and more than 5,000 visitors attended the fair. This is a great way to get the word out about the "Antique Trail" brochure that our tourism department has created. The proceeds from the fair go toward the printing and promotion of these new brochures,” stated Tammy Kinser, Tourism Director for the Partnership. “Antiquing is growing in popularity throughout the country and Greene County has a wealth of wonderful, quaint antique shops. We have also incorporated our great museums and historical attractions into the event to make tourists and local residents aware of the treasures that we have in our community.”
Admission is free. The event is a project of the Tourism Department of the Greene County Partnership.
