Stanley Gibbons Heads East in the Pursuit of Profits Stanley Gibbons announced today that it will be accelerating its plans to enter the Asian market with an ambitious advertising campaign launching next week.
News-Antique.com - Dec 09,2010 - The London AIM listed rare stamp experts, publishers and Royal Warrant Holders, Stanley Gibbons, has today announced plans for an ambitious advertising campaign in Asia, to accelerate sales in the fledgling investment market.
The company has been testing the market for luxury collectibles for more than five years; meeting with dealers and brokers with the aim of securing early investment funds from the burgeoning number of HNWI’s, as identified in the recent Asia-Pacific Wealth Report.
“We are confident that the time is now right to launch ourselves strongly into Asia and the Indian sub-continent. Recent sales to Asian investors have built shareholder confidence and our experiences in Beijing have galvanised us to take action in order to secure our position within this lucrative and growing market” said Stanley Gibbons Group Sales & Marketing Director, Keith Heddle.
Only this month, The Times of India wrote: “Considered to be an “undervalued” but a highly stable asset class, investing in rare stamps is catching the fancy of Asians, particularly Indians. Investment portfolio managers feel that with India's growth story, rare stamps will be the next big asset class to invest in for the well-heeled.”
In an unprecedented move for a rare collectibles business, the campaign will see Stanley Gibbons taking full page adverts in several of the key Asian newspapers, linked to a dedicated webpage, with a unique and intriguing proposition. The pan-Asian campaign will break on Monday 13th December.
“It’s ambitious, but we are confident we will see the returns for our efforts. There is a demand in Asia for trophy assets and investment diversification that we at Stanley Gibbons are perfectly placed to take advantage of.
We are the undisputed brand leader in premium, rare stamps and collectibles and have been for over 150 years and our expertise in this field is recognised worldwide” said Heddle.
