News-Antique.com - Nov 23,2010 - Noble Investments (UK) PLC, the only AIM listed coin and stamp trading and auction company, and parent company of Apex Philatelics and A. H. Baldwin & Sons Ltd, continues on the acquisition road with the purchase of the stock, reference library and client database of Sussex based philatelic dealer Leo Baresch Limited for an undisclosed sum.
Original owner, Leo Baresch, became a Philatelic trader during the 1950’s and 60’s upon his release from the Merchant Navy. Originally from Austria, Baresch resided in the UK before setting sail where he travelled widely as a merchant seaman. During his exploration of far off places Baresch indulged his passion for stamps and began advertising locally to buy and sending them back home. This stockpile of stamps would undoubtedly have been used in his initial years of trading.
The current proprietor, Mr. Werner Gattiker, joined Leo Baresch during the 1960’s and, following the death of Mr .Baresch some 20 or so years later, assumed the principle role. Since then Gattiker (of Swiss/German descent) has continued to build the business to become the leading UK dealer in Swiss, Austrian and Lichtenstein stamps. The sale of stock to Noble Investments (UK) PLC follows Gattiker’s decision to retire from the Philatelic industry.
Noble Investments (UK) Managing Director, Ian Goldbart, commenting on the purchase said the assets would be absorbed into the company's stamp division, Apex Philatelics, both complementing and enhancing its stamp inventory and enlarging its customer database.
Formed as a rare coin trading company in 2003, Noble Investments (UK) PLC has since expanded to become a formidable force at the forefront of the Philatelic and Numismatic markets. This, their latest acquisition, marks the end of a fantastic year of trading for the company which has seen increased sales and growth despite the current economic climate.
