News-Antique.com - Nov 12,2010 - Moonstone Books’ new horror anthology Bedtime Stories For Impressionable Children #1 will debut at the Nov. 20-21, 2010 Virginia Comicon. Writers J.C. Vaughn (Mighty Samson) and James Kuhoric (Dead Irons) will be in attendance, and a limited-edition, show-exclusive variant of the first issue will be available for purchase.
The Virginia Comicon exclusive edition of Bedtime Stories For Impressionable Children #1 features a sketch cover by artist Mark Wheatley, who also illustrated one of the stories in the issue. It is limited to 250 copies.
Inspired by traditional horror comics and magazines such as the EC Comics and Warren Publishing lines, as well as by everything from Hammer Films productions to indy comics, the first issue features the work of Vaughn, Kuhoric, writer-director Robert Tinnell, and artists Mark Wheatley, Gene Gonzales, Joe Keatinge, Rich Woodall, and Michael C. Malbrough.
In addition to high-profile comics like Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash (and it’s sequel) for Wildstorm and Army of Darkness, Dead Irons and Legendary Talespinners for Dynamite Entertainment, Scream Award-winner Kuhoric has contributed to The Spider Chronicles and The Kolchak the Nightstalker Chronicles for Moonstone. Kuhoric's brand new Rocket Man #1 is currently on the way from the publisher.
Best known as Associate Publisher of Gemstone Publishing (The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide), Vaughn previously created the recently completed Vampire, PA and the mini-series Zombie-Proof at Moonstone, and contributed to the prose anthology Vampires: Dracula and the Undead Legions. He also wrote 24, based on the Fox TV show, for IDW Publishing and is presently co-writing Mighty Samson with Jim Shooter for Dark Horse Comics.
For its second two-day show, the Virginia Comicon has moved to a new, larger location, the Ramada Plaza West, 6624 West Broad Street Richmond, VA 23230. The location has plenty of free parking and offers a VA Comicon group rate of only $65 (+ taxes) per night.
If traveling by road, from I-95 take the I-64 West Exit #79 towards Charlottesville. Follow for 3.2 miles, and then take exit #183B. Go 0.3 miles to hotel on your left.
