Decotique Raises Funds for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 9/25/10 - 65 Roses – More than a Yard Sale – successful effort to raise funds for kids with Cystic Fibrosis by Antiques and Collectibles Dealers, their friends and family.
News-Antique.com - Oct 24,2010 - Decotique.com was created in 2008 in honor of Kate’s daughter, Jessica, who succumbed to Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at age 28. Ten percent of Decotique’s proceeds benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Decotique offers Art Deco Moderne, Art Nouveau, Edwardian and Victorian treasures including: exceptional antique and vintage purses, Bakelite, fashion art, fine estate and costume jewelry, flapper clothing, accessories, porcelain, Bauhaus Design, Machine Age, World’s Fair collectibles, Hollywood’s Golden and Regency Eras antiques and collectibles, antique sewing implements, patterns and notions. Additionally, Decotique organizes annual fund raisers for the CF Foundation in Jessica’s memory. All fund raising proceeds directly benefit the Foundation and are referred to as 65 Roses events. Sixty Five Roses is an easy way for folks to remember the name, Cystic Fibrosis. When said one after the other it is usually easy to hear the similarity between the two phrases.
We are happy to report that the 65 Roses, More than a Yard Sale Fund Raising Event was a huge success raising more than $700 for the CF Foundation! What started out as a one day venture turned into a weekend of fun and brisk sales. Decotique raised $500 the first day and still had quality inventory to be sold. A second day of selling realized an additional $200 within the first two hours. It was exhausting, exciting and fun all at the same time. While most items were sold, what was left over was donated to a local shelter for women.
Two properties were packed with antiques, collectibles, books and records, toys and house wares and a few, Hey, what the heck is this thing?, anomalies. Family, friends and neighbors of Decotique were not only generous with their time and money, the donated items kept coming in even after the 11h hour. Likewise, customers were generous in buying and contributing dollars to the Big Blue Jar. Their efforts made all of this possible, and most importantly, their contributions and hard work of staff will make a significant, direct difference in the life of a child who suffers from this dreaded disease.
In addition to Decotique.com, Kate has created an informative and entertaining lecture series which includes topics on the Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Victorian Eras. Especially popular is her talk on Antique and Vintage Purses where she presents samples of unique historical purses from 19th century through mod retro plastic purses of the 1960s. Presentations are tailored to group preference. If you would like Kate to give a talk at your next Historical Society meeting, Library Event, Women's Group, or other event, please send a request for information to Decotique, PO Box 157, Barrington, NJ 08007, e-mail her at decotique.info@verizon.net , or call her directly (856) 912-1082.
