GROGAN'S TWO DAY OCTOBER AUCTION FEATURES DIVERSE OFFERINGS Dedham, Mass. - Grogan & Company will kick off their 23rd year in business with a two day auction, October 23 and 24, featuring over 1,200 lots from many prominent New England Estates.
Mounted Table Chest, estimated at $3,000-5,000 and a Rare Carved Bamboo Brush Pot signed by the maker, Shi Tian Zhang of Jiading.
Continental Furniture and Decorations features two Pairs of ‘Sevres’ Cobalt Ground Covered Vases, from the Estate of Claire Golant; a Biedermeier Fruitwood Secretaire a Abattant, estimated at $6,000-8,000 and an Italian Giltwod Marble top Console Table, estimated at $6,000-8,000.
The Silver and Jewelry highlights on day two will include a pair of 20th century Gilt Silver Candelabra and Centerpieces by Maison Odiot, Paris, estimated at $6,000-9,000 and $10,000-15,000 respectively, as well as a 150 piece Tiffany & Company Reeded Edge Flatware Service in a fitted box, estimated at $4,000-8,000. The silver section also includes various other Tiffany & Company flatware and hollow ware as well as noted examples by Gorham, Whiting, Cartier and others. The jewelry offerings include Egyptian Revival, Antique and Art Nouveau enameled and gem set pieces by Krementz & Company, Riker Brothers, and others.
The Sunday Auction will also feature the McKibben Family Coin collection begun by Franklin Reed McKibben (1843-1901) from Arkansas. The highlight of the collection is a circa 1799 Ten Dollar Gold Piece, estimated at $8,000-12,000. An impressive group of decorative room size carpets and a smattering of rare rugs of collector interest will wind up this exciting two day auction.
The exhibition begins on Thursday, October 21st, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. – 12 noon; Sunday, 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
