Each month has a color certificate on the top page, with the monthly calendar down below. “This is our most impressive calendar yet.” according to Bob Kerstein. Scripophily.com – CEO. “Each certificate was hand selected for this calendar based on its artwork and/or historical significance.” Kerstein added.
This wonderful collection of stock and bond certificate images includes a blend of beautiful artwork, historically important companies, and unique industries. These include certificates from the Banque Commerciale & Viticole (Commercial Bank and Vineyard) of France, and the Napa Valley Wine Company signed by Jacob Beringer and Charles Krug of St. Helena, California, issued in 1873. Also included are The United States Leather Company, which was part of the original Dow Average in 1896 and J.I. Case Threshing Machine Company (which became International Harvester) and their famous "Old Abe" eagle logo from the Civil War Wisconsin battalion who brought this eagle with them through every battle. We have added a collage of government war bonds from around the world, an early General Motors Company stock certificate from 1910, and a bond from the Disston Land Company used to raise millions of dollars to drain the Everglades in Florida and build homes in 1894. You will also view a certificate from the Radium Luminous Material Corporation, which was a company that made paint that glowed in the dark but also caused cancer to its workers due to radiation exposure. Subsequently, a play was written about the incident and court case called "Radium Girls". Also included are the Pierce - Arrow Motor Car Company stock from 1934, a Curtis Flying Service, Inc. certificate, a certificate from the Goldman Sachs Trading Corporation, a company that lost 97% of its value during the Depression, and the Gagnier-Griffin Suspended Railway Bridge Company issued in 1894. For December, we have the Gimbel Brothers, Inc, a famous department store chain handsigned by the company's president, Isaac Gimbel. On the back cover is a proof certificate from the United States Statue of Liberty Foundation whose purpose was to refurbish the deteriorating Statue of Liberty in 1986. We hope you enjoy this year's selections.
