About Kate @ Decotique
After serving several years as Media Relations Coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Kate left the University to pursue her interests in the world of antiques. Combining her writing and research skills with her love of history, Kate has created a successful career as an historian, professional speaker and online shop owner.
Kate established and served as editor of Shop Talk, a newsletter for dealers at two large antique malls. Kate now writes her bimonthly newsletter, Deco News, to inform and entertain fellow shop owners, customers and friends of Decotique. Additionally, Kate organized the Wednesday Night Lecture Series for a large South Jersey antique mall, both speaking and scheduling professional speakers on various topics of expertise.
Inspired by her love of Art Deco and Art Nouveau treasures, Kate created Decotique.com. Kate was also motivated to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of her step-daughter, Jessica, who succumbed to the disease in 2007. Each year, Decotique donates 10% of its earnings to the Foundation and is active in fund raising events throughout the year.
Much of Kate’s time is spent at auction, estates and traversing country back roads throughout the tri-state area and beyond. She seeks out and researches rare and unique antique treasures which she shares with others in her informative and entertaining lecture series.
