News-Antique.com - Jun 25,2010 - There's a new venue for the 3rd Annual Gathering and Meeting of The SeatWeavers' Guild, Inc. on July 30-August 1, 2010. This year we'll converge at Tillers International in Scotts, Michigan.
Join us in this agricultural setting and immerse yourself in the ancient chair caning craft. "Seating with a Twist" will expose you to some rarely demonstrated chair seat weaving techniques of Danish cord, hand-twisted corn shucks, cattail leaf rush and bulrush and more.
If you've ever had questions about these weaves, or wondered how to do them, now is your chance to see how they are done. Join the guild, have fun--watch, learn and participate!
The public is invited to the Chair Seating exhibit in the museum all weekend, but the Gathering events and meeting are for current guild members only.
Send in your membership application and Gathering registration by July 7th deadline. Separate annual membership meeting will be at 8pm on Saturday, July 31 at the Guest House following the banquet.
