NDGA Convention - Wichita, KS, July 10-11, 2010 The National Depression Glass Association has scheduled the 2010 Convention to be held in Wichita, Kansas. The Convention and Glass Show & Sale is open to both members and non-members.
News-Antique.com - May 06,2010 - The National Depression Glass Association has held an Annual Convention in a different city each year since 1974. This year the Convention will be held in Wichita, Kansas, making it easily accessible for members and visitors from the central part of the country. Last year it was held in Connecticut, and for 2011, the venue is San Antonio, Texas.
The Convention is open to everyone, and we encourage those who have never attended one to come to Wichita and see what this is all about. The Glass industry was a major employer in the United States up until the middle of the 20th century when it began to decline, primarily due to foreign competition (lower wages, less government regulation).
Thirty-two dealers from all across the United States will converge at the Century II Exhibition Hall in Wichita. Dealers bring their best wares to Convention, so there will be plenty of top quality glass for sale during the two days of the Convention.
The theme of this year's Convention is "Glass is Oz-some" and you can expect to see Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion roaming around the Convention space. In addition, you will be treated to over 60 displays of glass from private collections of NDGA members and that includes several from children's collections. Every year the displays are among the highlights of the Convention and this year looks like it will be truly "Oz-some."
