Decotique Announces CF Foundation Mother's Day Tea May 9th, 2010, Decotique, an Art Deco, Art Moderne online antiques, collectibles shop, joins with The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to bring you a virtual Mother's Day Tea event to spread awareness of CF
News-Antique.com - Apr 30,2010 - Invitations were sent to friends of The CF Foundation to participate in a virtual tea at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, 2010 to gain awareness of Cystic Fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the US.
About 1,000 new cases of cystic fibrosis are diagnosed each year. More than 70% of patients are diagnosed by age two while 40% of CF patients is 18 or older. In 2006, the predicted median age of survival was 37 years.
Since 1955, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been the driving force behind the pursuit of a cure. Thanks to the dedication and financial backing of supporters, patients, family, friends, clinicians and volunteers, they are making a difference.
Kate Butler, owner of Decotique, hopes to reach a new audience of antiques dealers who may have never heard of CF, or may know of someone who suffers from the disease but isn't sure what it is. Kate, who lost a daughter to CF in 2007, knows first hand the debilitating symptoms of the illness. She has also experienced the generosity and goodwill of her fellow antiques dealers who were anxious to learn about CF and helped out with fund raisers and other special events to benefit The Foundation.
