MORRISTOWN, NJ, April 29, 2010 – The Morris County Historical Society will hold its third annual antique and yard sale at Acorn Hall on Saturday, May 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nineteenth and early twentieth century clothing and accessories including gloves, hats, and purses will be for sale, as well as antique lace, lovely vintage linens, furniture, decorative items, books, and miscellaneous other antiques. More contemporary bargains will include clothing, books, housewares, decorative items, fabric, and more. The sale will be held on the lawn and in the carriage house of Acorn Hall, 68 Morris Avenue, Morristown. There will be no early bird sales, and the sale will proceed rain or shine.
Most of the items for sale have been donated by MCHS members or benefactors for the express purpose of assisting the Society. All proceeds benefit the programs of the Morris County Historical Society and the preservation of Acorn Hall. Acorn Hall will not be open for tours that day.
Acorn Hall, the headquarters of the Morris County Historical Society, is an 1853 house remodeled into the Italianate Villa style in 1860. It is open to the public on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tours of the house and exhibit are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for students.
