Tinplate Times Moves to New Home at Toy Collector The highly popular Tinplate Times website is move to a new home as The Tinplate Train Times, hosted at Toy Collector.
News-Antique.com - Jan 27,2010 - Created by Jim Kelly, TCA 99-49842 Tinplate Times has focused mostly on pre-war tinplate electric toy trains and has been published as a webzine, updating periodically via its own website. Now, however, as The Tinplate Train Times, it will be taking advantage of the easier publishing and communication methods brought by Web 2.0 as it moves into blog format on Toy Collector.
The new Tinplate Train Times blog will include the same great articles the site has always featured, but the format will allow for easier, more frequent updates and more interaction between writers and readers via blog comments and the new Tinplate Train Times forum on Toy Collector. Content from the original site will be ported across.
Founder Jim took the decision to move after being impressed by some of the other original content on Toy Collector. Having explored the site, he felt that with Toy Collector’s profile and easier-to-use web publishing tools and his own site’s userbase, the two would be a formidable combination and that reformatting as a Toy Collector blog would be the best way to continue and expand his coverage of the popular tinplate train arena, particularly since users could still use the old URL of www.tinplatetimes.com.
