Fraser’s Autographs host an exclusive, Vintage Hollywood themed shopping evening for top clients and celeb collectors.
News-Antique.com - Dec 22,2009 - Fraser’s Autographs of 399 Strand hosted an exclusive, Vintage Hollywood themed shopping evening for top clients and celebrity collectors at the end of November.
Showcasing some of their finest Hollywood memorabilia, normally stored securely in the vault, the evening provided a glamorous backdrop for guests to begin their Christmas shopping, complete with gold organza, stage lighting, champagne and canapés.
The world’s number one Laurel and Hardy lookalikes, Haurel and Lardy welcomed and entertained guests with a range of tricks including removing astrologer Russell Grant’s underwear with the aid of four scarves and a round of applause!
A classic black and white movie was also screened on the night - the 1928 silent movie, The Circus, directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin.
As an early Christmas gift, guests were presented with a Fraser’s goody bag containing a copy of their autograph price guide, Collect Autographs and a family pass for Paradise Wildlife Park courtesy of the park’s Director, Steve Sampson, amongst other goodies.
‘The evening was a great success’ said Manager of Fraser’s Autographs, Ania Polyniak. ‘Haurel and Lardy were superb and the evening was a great way for our clients and friends to shop at their leisure for early Christmas gifts.’
‘It is a great setting. I love the photo from Casablanca and the signature of Ingrid Bergman’ said guest Phil Reed OBE, Director of the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms.
‘I was fascinated by the range of autographs on display – one minute I’m standing shoulder to shoulder with Alfred Hitchcock, the next I’m coveting the Marilyn Monroe lithograph signed by Andy Warhol!’ said TV presenter, Leah Christian.
Artist Jennifer Allen also donated a painting of Laurel and Hardy on the night which the company will use for a charity auction being planned for next year.
