News-Antique.com - Dec 06,2009 - Now in its third year The Luxury Antiques Weekend at Linden Hall, staged by The Antiques Dealers Fair Limited, is returning to the Macdonald Linden Hall Hotel,
Longhorsley, near Morpeth, Northumberland from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 March 2010.
This is a glamorous boutique-style antiques fair with around 24 exhibitors who are all members of the two main trade associations, BADA or LAPADA. From opulent showstoppers to useful furniture, the exhibitors offer a broad range of both fine quality and affordable pieces in the relaxed surroundings of Linden Hall, set in rolling
Northumberland countryside, only 15 minutes north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
From Edinburgh comes Anthony Woodd Gallery, amongst whose 19th century paintings is an oil of ‘Dumbarton Rock’, dated 1846 by Jane Nasmyth, daughter of celebrated Victorian Scottish artist Alexander Nasmyth priced at £12,000. Other picture
dealers include John Nicholson & Dunelm Fine Art who are bringing a watercolour of ‘Whitby Harbour’ (£1,950), signed by John Atkinson, born in Newcastle in 1863.
Jewellery is always a show-stopper and there will be plenty to choose from on the stands of Plaza, Shapiro & Co, Trivette and T Robert. Shapiro & Co also sells Russian objets d’art and glass. Amongst the amazing collection of carrying card cases and other boxes from Simply Antiques of Suffolk is a 1913 ten-peg silver butt marker for the shooting enthusiast, price £1,900.
The Calvert Trust/Kielder, a UK charity that enables people with disabilities, together with their families and friends, to achieve their potential through outdoor adventure activities in the countryside, is again the Luxury Antiques Weekend’s chosen charity.
The venue for the first ever Luxury Antiques Weekend in 2008, Linden Hall set the benchmark for future Luxury Antiques Weekends around the UK organised by The
Antiques Dealers Fair Limited. Director Ingrid Nilson said, “Last year we were pleased to discover that a number of visitors booked into the hotel, which is part of the Macdonald group. This gave antiques hunters a chance to spend a relaxing weekend enjoying the facilities of the hotel, which include a golf course, gym and spa, and their on-site Linden Tree pub, whilst making decisions on their art and antiques purchases”.
