Top lots from the sale:
The top lot of the day is number 310, a black and white linoleum cut by Pablo Picasso entitled “Femme Accoudee.” Produced in 1959, the print is signed in pencil and numbered 31/50. In Picasso’s distinctive style it depicts a young woman deep in contemplation. Bidding opens at $25,000.
Lot 403A is an Andy Warhol screen print of Grace Kelly from 1984. This work is signed and numbered 26/225. The glamorous American actress has been treated with Warhol’s signature color overlay. Bidding for this piece begins at $20,000.
Highlights from the Lehman Brothers Collection:
Bernar Venet’s large steel sculpture, "97.5° ARC X 14," will be offered as lot 221. Produced in 2003, the work consists of a number of steel arcs rolled, welded with covered with a black patina. It measures 7 1/2 x 21 13/16 x 6 13/16 in. and it is stamped with the artist's initials and numbered 'BV 6/25'. Bidding opens at $10,000.
Lot 179 is a print by Roy Lichtenstein entitled "I Love Liberty.” It shows the statue of Liberty in Lichtenstein’s graphic style, done predominantly in black and white with yellow accents. The work is signed and labeled number 37/250 with a minimum bid of $7,500.
