I have received many positive responses about our collection stories. The last story about Norm and his Zippo lighter collection led my brother Ed to call me & tell me he collected Zippo lighters at one time, and wished he still had his collection. (Things I never knew about my own brother!!) Many of you have promised to share stories, but this time I decided to tell you more about one of George's collections:
Pez. Read more about it below. A lie is what started his collection - but it hasn't stopped him! Will it stir that collecting spirit in you? Will it kindle your desire to share your stories? One thing I learned: people who collect often have more than one collection! With that in mind, share as many stories as you have!! I want as many stories as I can get!

Who Pez? George Pez! But he didn't get the true story!
I told you in a recent newsletter about George's obsession with Pez. It all started when he heard the story about how ebay got started. The story goes like this: the creater of ebay - Pierre Omidyar - created the online auction site to help his fiancée trade Pez. As it turns out, the story is not true! Mary Lu Song was the ebay's first full time employee and inventor of the Pez story, also known as the "eBay creation myth." In 1997, Mary Lou Song was frustrated that reporters weren't interested in writing about the small online auction site, so she began telling reporters that Pierre Omidyar had created eBay to help his fiancee trade Pez. It worked – reporters loved the story, so she kept telling it. George thought the story was true till I told him otherwise (he learned that just today... he is crushed). Anyhow- this
bit of news (although untrue) led George to catch the Pez collecting bug! The picture below is a small sampling of Pez that we have for sale in the store. George's personal collection is much larger - and not yet displayed in our home.
