Gray’s continues to offer the region’s most diverse and comprehensive collections of fine art, furniture, antiques, decorative pieces, rugs, books and jewelry- all in their beautiful state of the art showroom and gallery located at 10717 Detroit Avenue in Cleveland. Through its continued global outreach and the consistently increasing value and range of pieces offered, Gray’s has been able to attract and maintain bidders from over 60 countries world wide, promising an exciting event for all. Through the use of its five bidding methods; live, telephone, absentee, and via the internet with Gray’s Live Bidding and Artfact Live, Gray’s has created the regions only truly comphrensive approach to bidding and buying at auction.
These technological advancements are only mirrored by the ever increasing value and variety of items curated by the staff at Gray’s. October’s auction is notable for an assortment of pieces- the first being a remarkable arrangement of mid century modern furniture attributed to Karl Springer. Widely known for his attention to detail, as well as his ability to seamlessly translate pure, classical shapes into contemporary furniture, these pieces are excellent examples of his work, and promise to attract wide attention.
Additionally featured is a remarkable sofa, a Ueli Berger, Eleanora Peduzzi-Riva, Heinz Ulrich "Non-Stop Sofa", by DeSede, Imported from Switzerland by Stendig. Certainly, a mouthful, and indeed a piece that needs to be seen- it is comprised of 19 sections that each individually zip together. On other end of the furniture spectrum, we also feature a stunning Louis XV Canapé, with arched padded back and bowed seat covered in petit point needlework. For the musically inclined, we are also offering a Baldwin 7ft. Semi Concert Grand Piano, in a beautiful black satin ebony finish, complete with matching bench.
The Fine Art offerings are no less fascinating, with works available by many prominent artists. An oil on canvas work entitled Strolling along the Seine, by French painter Francois Gall (1912-1987), leads the line up as a remarkable example of Gall’s classically French impressionist style. Additonally, a piece by Alexis Matthew Podchernikoff, (Russian/American, 1886-1933), and oil on canvas work after Alexander Nasmyth (Scottish, 1758-1840) represent a few of the stunning landscape paintings available this auction.
Further rounding out October’s selection are two stunning jewelry lots- the first a ladies diamond bridal ring set, crafted of 14kt. white gold with a round brilliant cut 1.29ct. diamond, together with a white gold diamond wedding band set with eight diamonds. This is followed by a ladies platinum and marquise 1.6 ct ring diamond ring.
