Vintage Lighting Store Estate Sale Sacramento, CA - September 25th and 26th, EstateSalesHelp.com will be selling the store contents of Crescent Lighting from Oakland, CA.
News-Antique.com - Sep 22,2009 - Clifford started the store in 1912 at 1812 San Pablo Avenue in Oakland California. In 1924 Clifford moved the store to 24th and Telegraph in Oakland.
Clifford’s son Stan worked at the store while going to high school and U.C. Berkeley. Stan was in the US Navy during WWII.
In 1957 Stan purchased the store from his father. In 1970 Stan moved the store to its final location at 2425 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland.
Stan continued to operate the business until an adjoining building was imploded in 2001. The implosion went the wrong way and damaged the front half of the store. The city of Oakland “red tagged” the remaining half of the store and Stan had to remove the contents of the part of the store that remained.
Stan’s nephew Steven, who was an artist, worked at the store for several years before the building was damaged.
This store’s contents of hundreds of glass lamps and lantern shades (some Vaseline, Quezel, art glass, mica, chandelier crystals, lamp bases both floor and table and thousands of lamp and lantern parts as well as lighting books and parts catalogs) plus much of the family’s basement content from the past 80 years, is what we will be selling this Thursday in Sacramento. Take note that while this lighting store sold lighting, they were primarily known as a local repair shop of vintage lighting with many lamps being left there on premises for dozens of years and now all abandoned early lamps and lamp parts will be sold as part of the store content.
The sale will run on Friday from 7am until 6pm and Saturday will be half price from 7am until 3pm when all remaining tables will be auctioned off to highest bidder in box lots. Hopefully one of you lamp aficionados will be in need of thousands upon thousands of lamp repair parts to fill your own stockroom. located in a warehouse at 3999 Fruitridge Avenue Sacramento 95820(on the corner of Enrico Blvd, second stoplight east of Hwy 99) please park across the street at the community center parking lot if our gated lot behind the storefront is full. Mike and I have been crazy busy bringing all of the basement content up from the Oakland Hills to display and photograph it for you to view on the website. Unfortunately only about 60% of what we will sell was laid out prior to his newest video being completed so be sure to check back in a day or two for photos and possibly a second video of the rest of our offerings.
